Wholesale & OEM/ODM sourcing · English guide
Preparing a downlight RFQ for wholesale and OEM/ODM sourcing
For lighting distributors, importers and brand sourcing teams, a useful RFQ defines the configuration, order quantities and scope of any requested changes. Use your existing specification sheet as the starting point, with one reference for each configuration.
Define the configuration and order basis
Include the exact model or reference specification, quantity per variant and destination market. Separate the initial order from any repeat-order forecast.
Your specification sheet should identify the requirements relevant to the enquiry:
- Mechanical: format, cut-out, dimensions, mounting and finish.
- Optical: output, beam, CCT, CRI and any additional colour requirements.
- Electrical: supply, driver and control requirements.
- Documentation: required technical files, test reports and market-specific certification evidence.
Mark fixed requirements and acceptable alternatives. Cite the revision of any drawings or datasheets used as the baseline.
Separate catalogue selection from requested changes
For a catalogue enquiry, identify the selected model and configuration. For an OEM/ODM enquiry, attach a separate change list covering the requested product, branding or packaging changes. Include drawings, artwork or reference samples where relevant.
Ask for feasibility, sample requirements and any development or tooling costs to be addressed separately from the unit quotation. Requested changes remain subject to technical and commercial confirmation.
Compare offers on the same basis
Ask each response to retain your item references and identify:
- The proposed model, configuration and supporting document revision.
- Any deviations, alternatives or items awaiting confirmation.
- Unit pricing, quantity basis, MOQ and sample terms.
- Packing, delivery terms, requested schedule and warranty terms.
Keep alternative configurations on separate lines. Before placing an order, reconcile the selected configuration and approved sample requirements with the final quotation.
Send your sourcing brief
